“From Black Boxes to Open Systems” is a knowledge-sharing initiative presented by the New Museum’s digital art affiliate Rhizome. The project aims to support artists and art organizations to develop a better understanding of the concepts, skills, and infrastructure necessary for the exhibition, collection, and stewardship of born-digital art of all kinds.

In this event, Rhizome‘s digital Preservation Director Dragan Espenschied, Software Curator Lyndsey Moulds, and Design Researcher Lozana Rossenova unveiled this newly reimagined archive and explored the benefits of LOD for long-term preservation and sustainability in a complex and diverse born-digital archive. Curator and scholar Annet Dekker, author of Collecting and Conserving Net Art published by Routledge in 2018, served as a respondent to the presentation.
