Led by Tiffany Lenoi Jones, Educator in Residence for Art and Social Justice, this program focused on strategies of social justice community organizing that educators can draw from to co-create a safer and braver learning environment—one that acknowledges students’ lived experiences and prioritizes the well-being and dignity of marginalized people. Art in the exhibition, “Grief and Grievance: Art and Mourning in America,” was engaged as a site for reckoning with social, historical, political, and emotional truths of white supremacy and as creative expression that honors Black life and grief.
